Brain waves
Worked on some Sunday ideas at the cafe this morning. One I’ll take to paper either today or tomorrow. Two need massaging and flushing out. So I’m happy with the gist of those concepts but just not satisfied with them enough to strap myself behind my desk for the next five or six hours. It’s really important for me to scrutinize every aspect of the cartoon — the humor, design and artwork, as well as how different age groups will interprept the completed strip. This is not to say I don’t fall flat on my face. There’s not one strip, both Sunday and daily, that I haven’t found some flaw (s) with when I finally see it in print. This is definitely more true with Red and Rover over Adam@Home, mainly because Red and Rover is so close to my heart. I even spend two to three times longer on R&R. That alone might tell volumes. Time to put on my reading glasses and sharpen up the pencils for the one strip that passed muster. although I’m sure to grimace when I see it in the newspaper five weeks from now.
